The Star Song

Thursday 17 February 2005.

She took me from my sleeping bed
And placed a star upon my head.
Awake my child, open your eyes
And see the treasures in my skies.
This all is yours, and more to come
She spoke so gently, then was gone.
And all at once the Stars looked down,
And in a circle gathered round.
Little Sister, I heard them say,
Won’t you come up and join our play?
Come dancing round the Milky Way,
We’ll keep you safe until the day.
Come up with us, forget your fears,
We have been here for many years
And shall be here for many more
Reflected in the watery shore.
Until She says our work is done
And bids us dance into the sun.
But until then we’ll laugh and sing
And keep a watch on everything.
So won’t you come and join our fun?
The best of times have just begun.
Climb up Sister, quickly tread
And never more go back to bed.
