Kabir was born in India c1398 AD. He may have lived for 120 years and is said to have relinquished his body in 1518.

A weaver by profession, Kabir ranks among the world’s greatest poets. His verses have been preserved in several traditions, notably in the Kabir-Panth, the Dadu-Panth, and in the Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs, which contains over 500 verses by Kabir.

Kabir openly criticized all sects, be they Hindu or Muslim. It is due to this straight forward approach that he has such a universal appeal and is held in high esteem all over the world. To call Kabir a universal Guru is not an over exaggeration.
